Designed and built by Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in the 1930s, it combines the traditional Chinese waterside pavilion form with the architectural craftsmanship of the Republic of China.
The milky white glazed tile roof, green columns and red tile floor form a classic color combination. It is the only water-friendly building complex in Nanjing that retains the complete Republican garden style. It is adjacent to Linggu Temple and the music platform, but there are few tourists.
In the morning mist, the slender shadows cast by the Metasequoia forest and the ripples on the lake form a dynamic ink painting; in the autumn afternoon, the red leaves falling on the water form a Monet-style light spot symphony with the warm orange of the glazed tiles.
Look for the craftsman’s marks on the columns of the waterside pavilion in 1932, or find firefly larvae in the moss area on the north side (visible at night in May-June).
